Plett and Polo

Polo has now become synonymous with the town of Plettenberg Bay. Prior to Clifford Elphick establishing Kurland as a Polo Estate there was no polo in the area. Now, it is the ‘mini-Pilar’ of Africa. Polo has also become a stand-alone industry to the Garden Route that generates in excess of R40million in revenue per annum.

Club chukkas start around Late October and run until April. With tournaments being played through the month of December and March/April. In season the number of polo ponies in the area swells to around 700 and the number of grooms to 140.

  • Ensure that the sport uplifts and supports the local community around it.
  • To raise the level of the young players in the country.
  • All whilst trying to have a laugh with some mates, playing a game we love.
